My 4 and a half year old daughter instantly got the game and it really makes her think. She makes up her own games besides memory and loves the graphic pictures. My 18 month old likes the pictures too, and the durability of the wood makes these a long term toy. only downside, being wood, you can memorize the grain when the animals are hidden, but she hasn't figured that out yet!

When I choose a toy to give to my godchildren or niece or nephews, the first thing I look into is the age recommendation. I actually only consider two factors when buying toys for kids - age appropriateness and my budget.

Reading about baby injuries caused by what I consider to be pretty harmless toys made me rethink my selection criteria. It made me aware about the safety aspect of kids' toys. After a few hours of Internet surfing, I've learned that:

1. Toys must not have sharp surfaces or points.

2. Toys for kids under three years of age must not contain small parts or produce small parts when they break, like rattles with small balls in them.

3. Toys must not have pinching parts or wires that could poke through.

4. Stuffed toys or dolls should have no ribbons, strings, cords, or necklaces that can be wrapped around a child's neck.

5. Any toy that can fit through a toilet paper tube is a choking and ingestion hazard.

6. Projectile toys like darts and slingshots are for older children.

7. I should also consider if there are younger siblings that can be interested to the toy because that toy can be a potential hazard for the younger ones.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission bans toys for sale in the U.S. that do not pass federal safety standards on small parts, low levels of lead in paint, flammability limits, and hazardous chemicals.

In August 2008, new toy safety standards have become a law in the U.S. The law requires, among others, lead levels in painted toys to be reduced to 100 parts per million and phthalate content to be below 0.1 percent. It also requires mandatory testing and safety certifications as well as tracking information for parents to easily find out if the toy they bought has been recalled. For some parents, the new law might not be the solution to some problems on child safety but it is a good start.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission has a lot of information for parents like safety tips not only on toys but also on baby cribs and play yards, bicycles, pools, playgrounds and playpens. A visit at their Web site, www.cpsc.gov, is enlightening. There's an updated list of recalled toys and other products in the site that will prove to be helpful for parents.

Parents can even receive direct e-mail notification of product recalls through the agency's Web site. This is one free e-mail subscription parents should have. They can also subscribe to electronically receive new recalls and safety information at www.recalls.gov.

A blog by independent and nonprofit organization, Consumers Union, is another great site for parents to visit. The site is regularly updated with safety news and tips from the Consumer Product Safety Commission as well as news relating to child safety from publishers like The New York Times, The Washington Post, Chicago Tribune, San Francisco Chronicle, and Time magazine.

There is so much to learn about toys and their safety standards. Hopefully, we all can be made aware of these standards to prevent tragedies.

My son stands on these. He weighs 40 lbs and they don't even buckle yet. There are enough in this box of 84 to create a masterpiece. Took some time to fold them all up into blocks but well worth it. We stack them against the wall in the play room and makes the room look nice and colorful!

The cardboard boxes are easy to assemble and you don't have to worry about your children getting hurt by them. My 2 year old just likes to knock them down all the time. I think they are better for 3 year olds and up. My daughter doesn't play with them because of my younger son always knocking them down. It has potential of creative play. This set is perfect, no need to buy another one like I did. If you do, try to stick with the large blocks only, because the little ones are more of a nuisance. A few little ones are fine, can pretend that they are car ports, etc.

Customer Review: String Breaks After Five Bounces
Horrible product. I bought two of these for my 8 year old daughter, who had asked Santa for one to replace her lost one (from a different manufacturer, purchased elsewhere). When she tried to bounce it, she noted that the elastic string was "really long". The strings are about four feet long (much longer than depicted in photos), making it nearly impossible to use as an indoor toy, since it stretches beyond four feet with the elastic. She tried to bounce it lightly, as to not make use of the string. After a few (less than five) bounces, the string detached from the rubber ball. I noted that we must have gotten a dud, thanking my lucky stars that I'd had the foresight to purchase a backup paddle, and she started playing with the second one. This time I counted. Five light bounces later, the string came detached from the ball. There is no way to fix this, since the string is inserted into a tiny pinhole into the rubber ball. I DO NOT recommend this toy. I understand children break toys, but I expect a toy's durability to hold up beyond a minute of playtime.

I have 2 1/2 year old twin boys who LOVE The Wiggles. These stacking blocks have been a blast for them to play with! They build them up, knock them down, count, say the alphabet and "talk" to the characters. I like this toy so much that I purchased 2 more for my niece and nephew.

When we are bored we look for tons of things to do. Sometimes we end cleaning the whole house and make it spic and span. Otherwise, we go out for a long walk in the park, cook and do just about anything to keep you busy. It's not really that hard to find something to do. But it is better to do something that could further make you intellectually endowed.

You may find this quite unusual but there are toys that you could use when all the chores are done. And mind you, this toy has been known to develop one's spatial and creative intellect. Have you ever heard of jigsaw puzzles? Yes, these are toys not only used by kids but adults too. They are good remedy for boredom. When you are alone and you have nothing to do, you can pick up a jigsaw set and give yourself a brand new challenge. Although, sometimes these puzzles can be so elementary, you can go out and buy the ones that are far challenging to put together. You can pick the double-sided puzzles to give an added challenge that way you can develop your strategic skills. You can even test how clever you are especially when they have complicated designs.

If you want to add more challenge, consider the number of pieces of your jigsaw puzzle. Personally, I'd like to try those with 300 pieces or more. Before when I'm out buying toys, I usually buy the 50-piece set and those that don't go beyond a hundred. It is quite funny that I never took the challenge of going beyond that because I knew I would give up easily. When playing with these sets, you really have to know the picture and their minute details. This would mean having a keen eye to quickly recognize the pieces that could fit together.

The toy itself can work wonders for oneself. Jigsaw puzzles can give you the sense of fulfillment. It gives you the same feeling when you have finished cleaning the whole house or after you have finished doing the laundry; only difference is that you don't have to use your muscles. It gives you the feeling of relief and the sense of accomplishment. You also do not have to worry about time because you own it. And if you cannot finish it today, you can do it some other time when boredom kicks in. It is a continuous process. But it is really up to you. Remember, you control the challenge.

Jigsaw puzzles maybe hard but anyone could do it. To tell you, you can develop your values in here as well. When handling difficult puzzles, it takes time. And if you really want to finish it, patience is needed, as well as perseverance. You can't rush things when they are too hard to handle. And in this game you cannot cheat. Once you have scattered and jumbled the pieces, there's no way of putting it back unless you have figured out which piece fits to another.

I'm sure right now, you are very curious if you can live with the challenge of the jigsaw puzzles. If you are the type of person whose really bored and just wants to find something to do without requiring burning to much energy, this could be your solution. There are so many breeders selling so called teacup dogs, but are they really a teacup size? Teacup dogs are dogs that are small enough to fit in a teacup, giving rise to the name. They are being bred smaller and smaller, because it is believed that is what people want. Often the term "teacup dog" is used as a marketing ploy to drive up the price of a puppy, as some people find the extremely small size desirable. The term teacup dog covers many varieties of miniature or toy breeds of dog.

Chihuahuas and Maltese are examples of toy dog breeds. There is no such thing as a "toy Chihuahua", or "toy Maltese". Recently, I went searching on the internet for some peoples experiences with the Ouija board.

Along with the usual people warning others about the powers of the ouija board, I found something very disturbing ...

I found a LOT of people suggesting to incorporate the Ouija board into their "theme" night party.

They suggest incorporating the board as if it was just a fun little thing to do. And often this was a suggestion for children's parties!

This is an absolutely stupid and dangerous idea. If you were having a "Cops & Robbers" theme party, would you incorporate a REAL loaded gun?

Of course not!

You know the power a gun has and respect it enough to know it would not be suitable as a party prop.

The Ouija board demands the same amount of respect. There will be some of you reading this who doubt the power of the Ouija board. Perhaps you don't believe in any "supernatural" forces. That is fine, but everyone believes in the dead right? We all KNOW death is REAL. Disrespecting the ouija board is disrespecting the dead!

Perhaps some people don't make the connection. But regardless of your belief or disbelief that there IS a REAL power in the ouija board ...please do not use it in a light hearted fashion. Respect those that have gone before us. There are many, many more fun and "scary" things you can add to a horror theme night without having to disrespect the Ouija board or putting yourself at risk.

We have had this Friendship Wheel kit for over a year and my 3 daughters are still interested in making bracelets with it. This action figure is an excellent likeness of actress Marina Sirtis as 'Star Trek: The Next Generation"'s half-human, half-empathic Betazoid counselor, Deanna Troi. Her casual uniform, as depicted on this figure, can be seen through the middle years of "The Next Generation"'s seven-year run (1987-1994). Its accessories are a milkshake (I'm not quite sure why), a tricorder, and a figure stand. All in all, I highly recommend this figure as a welcome addition to any Star Trek collector's treasure trove or to any action figure collector who expects high production quality in return for his/her investment. 5 stars of 5. P.S. As a side note, there is a variant of this figure also available, as Deanna Troi is featured in her casual uniform from the middle years of the program.
